Roughly 20% of men today will face something known as PPP. This ailment is known as pearly penile papules, and it is something that can cause a bit of panic for those that don’t know that they are looking at. Many men will notice that something is wrong or has changed and assume it’s the worst. If you don’t know what pearly penile papules are, or perhaps you are wondering what causes them, you may want to look into a few notes that could help you understand what this is, and why you should not panic when you see the issue come into frame.
PPP From A Medical Standpoint
The first thing that you should know is that this is not something that you are going to be able to transmit sexually. This is not the same as a STD or STI at all. Some people will assume because this comes on the penis, it is something that could cause a lot of stress and therefore be sexually transmitted. This is not a sexually transmitted disease at all. This is not going to be transmitted to someone else either.
To see if you have this, you’ll want to look at the head of the penis and the shaft. If there are small bumps that are coming up in these areas, then there may be something awry. The bumps are small, connected, and can be flesh tone or white. They are not cancerous, they are not going to bleed, puss, or irritate the skin. However, they are going to be visible, and could very well be felt when touched. These are small growths, and doctors are not sure why they form. They do form in 20% of men, but the root cause is not necessarily known. Many feel that it’s a matter of heredity.
Is PPP Due To HIV or Aids?
Moving along, you’ll find that some individuals will assume that HIV or aids could be a cause of pearly penile papules. The truth of the matter is that it’s not. This is not the same as any STD or STI and it is not caused by those things. Sexually transmitted issues will cause serious problems on the penile tissue including irritation, redness, blisters, sores, and even warts. This is not the same as anything that you will see with PPP at all. This is something that is cosmetic in nature, nearly every single time, and a doctor will set your mind at ease if you’re not sure about what you have.
Dealing With PPP
For men that have to deal with pearly penile papules, it’s important to look for holistic solutions first. One such option is to use tea tree oil topically. This can be placed on the penis, where the bumps are, and in time they will go away. Apple cider vinegar is also a solution that can work with this as well. There are also over the counter creams that are formulated to help with PPP, so that’s something to investigate as well. It’s important to realize that PPP is not related to HIV or aids in any way.
