Men that have changes around the penis are often ready to panic. They often assume that it’s a sexually transmitted disease of some kind. In most cases, it’s not, but there are some cases that do showcase that issue. It’s for that reason why many will need to know what the difference is between certain issues. For instance, a person that has pearly penile papules doesn’t mean that there’s a major issue beyond that. But some individuals assume that pearly penile papules means that they are dealing with herpes simplex virus or even thrush. These are issues that can come through with sexual contact, but what about PPP? Is it the same? Could these issues be a matter of sexual transmission? Could they transfer to someone else? What exactly are pearly penile papules? These questions deserve a little focus, and you may be surprised by what you find overall.
Defining What PPP Is
The first thing to note about pearly penile papules is that they are cosmetic in nature. They appear on the head of the penis and sometimes on the shaft. They are small bumps that can be flesh tone and appear at random. They are raised bumps, they are small, and they do not pose a great deal of issue compared to other skin problems on the penis. However, when you see that there’s something wrong, it can be tempting to panic. Many people panic because it’s a major change to the cosmetics of the penis.
Before going further, let’s be care about what pearly penile papules are. They are bumps. They are growths that come up from the penis. But they are not going to hurt. They are not going to bleed, puss, or become irritated to the touch. They also do not transmit sexually. They are not anything that you are going to need to worry about, because they are not something that can be linked to sex, cleanliness, or anything like that. In nearly every single case you’ll find that this will be a cosmetic issue and that’s about it.
What About Herpes and Thrush?
There are some individuals that will have herpes or thrush. These are infections that are transferred sexually, simple as that. A person that has unprotected sex with someone that has these infections can transfer them to another person, and can be difficult to heal without proper diagnosis and medications. These will come with bumps, but will also sting, come up with warts, lesions, and even a smell in some cases.
Is herpes or thrush related to pearly penile papules? No. There’s no relation at all. If you have PPP you do not have herpes or thrush. Could you have PPP and have other infections? Yes. Those things are true, you can have other issues, but they are not related. There is no relation between PPP and sexually transmitted diseases as a whole. The symptoms are not the same, they do not transfer, and they are separate in nature. Again, it bears repeating, pearly penile papules are cosmetic in nature, and can be cleared with topical solutions in nearly every single case.
